DEANS ACADEMY
The Deans Academy is a family run school catering for performers of all ages focusing on students aged between 6-18 years old. We offer group classes and Private Tuition in Singing, Piano and Music Theory using LCM and ABRSM examination boards.
With over 16 years experience working at the prestigious Italia Conti Academy in London and 8 years with Stagecoach, Our Principal, Alistair Dean (DipABRSM) understands the importance of good teaching, encouragement and development when it comes to Performing Arts Education.
Alistair returned in 2015 to his home town of Weymouth after working around the world and in London. He revisited WOW Musical Youth and conducted the pit orchestra for their production of Hairspray and the WOW show and was Musical Director for The Weymouth Operatic Society's production of Anything Goes in June 2016.
Alistair is an Accomplished and Experienced Musician, Teacher, Composer and Performer. A passionate professional with the natural ability to work effectively and calmly in all environments whist creating a great sense of fun. As a Musical Director, Alistair has worked for numerous leading entertainment providers in the UK. Alistair has assisted with the music production of these shows and has produced backing tracks for many international projects. Alistair has also been Musical Director for various Pantomimes with his favourite being Cinderella!
6 years ago Alistair introduced the London College of Music Musical Syllabus to the Italia Conti Academy Full Time and Saturday Schools. An exam designed not just to test vocal abilities but to incorporate and develop Acting and Movement within Singing creating a overall performance experience.
In 2016, Alistair was asked to be the Local Representative for The London College of Music. He is now employed by West London Univercity and in July coordinated the first session of exams in Weymouth
In the education field, Alistair also teaches Music Theory, History of Music, History of Musical Theatre and Composition on BTEC, A-Level, HND and Degree courses.
As a performer in his own right Alistair has traveled the World, performing aboard luxury cruise liners, in major hotels throughout London and exclusive hotels in the Mediterranean.
